COPENHAGEN: Thorco Projects and MC-Schiffahrt have launched a new capacity agreement called MCT Pool with eight 10,500 multipurpose (MPV) vessels from Thorco Projects and six from MC-Schiffahrt.
Thorco Projects has a fleet of heavylift vessels geared up to 800 tonnes and deck carriers able to load ultra-large cargoes. The company is part of Thornico, a 120 company conglomerate in shipping, food, technology, real estate, packaging, financing, sport and fashion.
Thomas Mikkelsen, CEO of Thorco Projects, said he was “very pleased that MC-Schiffahrt has shown us this confidence, which needs to be highlighted in today’s shipping scene”.
MC-Schiffahrt controls a fleet of 20 dry cargo ships including MPV, container and bulk vessels that are operated world-wide. CEO and Partner Mad Dabelstein added: “In the current market it’s crucial to find reliable and well positioned partners. Our vessels fit very well with Thorco Projects’ needs and commercially it’s a great advantage for us to be a part of Thorco Projects platform. So in many ways it’s a very good match.”
Since setting up the pool, both companies have received interest from other operators to join. “Hopefully the cooperation will lead to further common projects involving but not limited to an increasing amount of vessels being added to this pool.” said Dabelstein.
