Yilport orders four harbour cranes for Latin America

HELSINKI: March 2019. Turkish container terminal and port operator Yilport Holding has ordered four Konecranes Model 8 mobile harbour cranes for delivery to two terminals in Latin America in the second and third quarters of 2019.

Two of the Gottwald cranes will begin operation in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala in mid-2019 followed by the installation of two more in Puerto Bolivar, Ecuador two months later.

The eco-efficient diesel-electric cranes will help to develop sustainable terminal operations in Latin America where Yilport began in 2016 at Puerto Bolivar and since expanded both in Ecuador and Guatemala.

“Our aim is to become a leading player in selected countries in Latin America, which forms a key pillar in our global growth strategy,” said Yilport owner and chairman Robert Yüksel Yildirim. “To provide customers with the best handling services at these logistic turnstiles and to meet the challenges of serving ever-larger container vessels, we have opted once again for high-performance Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor cranes from our most valued and dependable partner.

“We have been impressed time and again with the high handling rates and reliability of the cranes from Konecranes and attach great importance to eco-efficiency that these machines provide as part of our overall strategy,” he added.

The four Model 8 harbor cranes provide lift capacity up to 100 tons and an outreach of up to 61 metres, enabling them to handle containers across 19 rows.

Andreas Moeller, Senior Sales manager of Konecranes’ Business Unit Mobile Harbor Cranes noted: The fact that Yilport ordered four large Model 8 cranes for their terminals in Latin America shows how customers can grow with our technology and broad offering according to their changing needs.”
